My Brief Life In Motorcycles

Over the years I've been riding motorcycles, I've had the distinct pleasure of sampling quite a few different models, as well as owning quite a number myself. For the next few moments, I'll take you on a journey through the maze I call motorcycling.

Bikes I currently own:

2000 Aprilia RSV Mille

Ah, yes. This is my current baby. I bought it second hand last June pretty much on a whim. I had been in the local bike shop getting some dirt riding gear when I spotted her. Beautiful, black and LOUD. I mulled it around in my head for a week or two, then thought "Bugger it!" I had the money at hand, and a bike to trade. I decided that if I test rode it and liked it, then I would buy it. I rode it, and loved it. Keeping the front wheel on the deck was something I actually had to practice for a week or so before I could take off properly.

The bike is not really standard, either. The exhaust system is a full race Akrapovic with titanium muffler. Loud it may be, but the sound is glorious - deep and throaty. And she loves to rev. I've only ever owned 4 cylinder road bikes in the past, and I thought going to a V-twin it would rev a lot slower. Not so. It revs at 4,000 rpm in top at 100km/h. Still, the response is nice...

I've also changed the indicators to iridium arrowhead type, and replaced the original tail lights with clear lenses and LEDs. They really clean uo the tail nicely. Next up will be a double bubble screen and perhaps some carbon fibre bits

2004 Suziki DR-Z 250
My little trail beasty. My mates were raving about how good it was to get out and about in the bush, so I thought I'd join them. They weren't wrong! My off road riding has been curtailed somewhat lately due to a broken bone in my foot (suffered in Far North Queensland while on a trail bike tour!), but I plan to get back on the horse soon enough. The bike is still standard except for some hand guards

1982 Kawasaki GPz 750
My broken down old tourer. I rode it 3,500km in a week several years ago, got home and collapsed, got up the next morning and the thing wouldn't start. I haven't attempted to start it since. Now when people ask me about it I say its my Project Bike!
